Advantages of quitting smoking
I couldn’t help myself to add some humor to this page by dividing all the advantages of quitting smoking into the three “scientific T-categories“: Tobachemistry, Tobacology, and Tobaconomy. This is a brief overview of a positive impact of not smoking on our lives.
Tobachemistry (a smoker and a society)
Non-smoking lifestyle is as popular these days as its complete opposite years ago. If you smoke, don’t be surprised if you’re asked to step outside to have a cigarette, or if you can’t smoke in a car, or if someone will not date you, or if your rent goes up, for instance.
As more and more people stay nicotine-free or quit smoking, a non-smoker is accepted more by the others and has more control over his/her life.
Tobacology (a smoker’s interaction with environment)
Smokers not just constantly poison themselves with life threatening chemicals. They also impact the health of those inhaling their second hand smoke.
Being nicotine-free improves lives. Non-smokers feel much better, live much longer, and have much more energy to do their favorite activities.
Tobaconomy (all the money spent on cigarettes)
What country do you live in? How much do the cigarettes cost?
In the United States, the average cost of a pack is about $5.00-$6.00 (up to $10.00 in New York City). Even if you pay $5.00 per pack and smoke about 3 packs a week, the damage to your budget is:
$5.00 per pack, $15.00 per week
$60.00 per month, $720.00 per year
If you pay a little more (let’s say $6.00) per pack, and smoke more frequently (let’s say, 4 packs a week), your damage to the budget is:
$6.00 per pack, $24.00 per week
$96.00 per month, $1,152.00 per year
Impressive, isn’t it? And if you smoke even a little more than that… Forget about it! See the advantages of quitting the cigarette habit? Just imagine what you could do with all these money! Things to buy, places to see… You name it!
